Attorney Dr.Jackeline Biddle Richard, JD, DNP, RN, CNE , the founder of JBR Immigration, is an Afro-Latina from Puerto Rico. She has a profound understanding of the immigrant experience, having relocated from Puerto Rico to the United States mainland as a child, learned English, and adjusted to life here. As a teen mom, she became determined to set her professional goals high to reach her American dream. She persevered achieving success as a registered nurse, attorney, and educator. Jackeline earned a nursing associate degree from Brookdale Community College, and then a bachelor's in nursing from Monmouth University. Working nights in the ICU, Jackeline witnessed injustices that fueled her passion for law. She attended Rutgers Law School where she excelled serving as her class representative in student government, interning for a superior court judge, winning her first case in social security court for the Women & AIDS clinic, and completed a summer law clerkship at a corporate law firm; all while working nights as an ICU nurse and raising her son as a single parent. Because of her nursing background, she began her legal career at a medical malpractice firm handling complex medical malpractice cases in trial and appellate courts wherein her first appellate decision was published. She then opened her own practice, focusing on criminal defense/ crimmigration, personal injury, and administrative matters. Building on her nursing career, Jackeline went on to become a nursing dean, associate dean, assistant professor, and higher education leadert after earning a doctor in nursing practice degree which eventually brought her to Texas. Relocating to the borderland exposed her to the unjust immigration realities, leading her to return to law practice focusing exclusively on immigration law. Jackeline is fluent in Spanish and brings extensive legal knowledge and strong background in social justice to her immigration practice. She is the author of the book titled Unbroken: A journey from pain to power and derives strength from being a survivor of domestic violence. In her role as an immigration attorney, he strives to help immigrant women or anyone in abusive relationships utilize available humanitarian relief such as VAWA and other resources that can improve their quality of life.
